A 29-year-old woman was involved in a horrific incident in Jakarta, Indonesia, in mid-January around 9:30 AM local time, as reported by Sinar Harian.

Sorong City Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, Ipda Nelfince Rumbino, confirmed the incident, saying a 31-year-old man lost his temper after being interrupted by his wife, who was the victim.

She told him to stop playing online games

Nelfince shared that out of frustration, the suspect took things to the extreme by grabbing kerosene and pouring it all over his wife.

This happened after she asked him to stop playing online mobile games and told him to go back to work as a ride-hailing driver. He then proceeded even further and set her on fire.

“The suspect then took a match and set his wife on fire. The victim suffered about 40% burns and is not yet able to give a statement,” Nelfince said.

The investigation is still ongoing

Nelfince explained that the police are still conducting further investigations, with 4 pieces of evidence collected so far. The suspect has been detained, and three witnesses have been questioned.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family said they are leaving the case entirely in the hands of the police.

They also hope that the suspect will receive a punishment fitting for his actions.
