When people display entitled behaviour on the road, Malaysians would often sarcastically ask, “Your grandfather’s road, is it?“.
Well, if you find this girl at Jalan Tien Min Wah in Kluang, Johor, and ask her the same thing, she’ll say yes!
Malaysian netizen, Alicia Tien, recently took to her XiaoHongShu account to showcase the road named after her grandfather, Tien Min Wah, while explaining his significance.

She wrote, “This is really my grandfather’s road in Malaysia! This is the road named after my grandfather!”
“In 1977, this road was named after my grandfather, in Kluang, Johor, Malaysia, where my grandfather lived and contributed all his life. At that time, as a politician and leader of the Chinese community, he always cared about the people and always thought about how to contribute more to society. At that time, there were very few Chinese leaders who could receive this honour.”
She added that her grandfather had also received medals and awards from the Sultan of Johor for his contributions to helping the community.
She wants his legacy to remain
Considering it has been 20 years since her grandfather passed away, she hopes that the road will forever remain in her grandfather’s name.

“In Malaysia, many roads named after Chinese people were later changed to other names. I sincerely hope that this road can keep my grandfather’s name forever,”
“This is the 20th anniversary of my grandfather’s passing. After returning to my hometown to visit his grave, I stood on this road and could feel his spirit of selfless dedication. My grandfather’s story has always guided me, as a Malaysian Chinese, the kind of responsibility and backbone that I should have,” she explained.
