It was supposed to be an enjoyable night out for these three friends at a Mont Kiara nightclub but things quickly turned sour when a minor shoulder bump caused a fight to break out.

On early Saturday morning around 4.00am, the victim, Muhammad Jeffri Abu Bakar was with his two friends, identified only as Ah Chai and Rubben. The three men got into a fight while they were dancing.

A scuffle broke out when they accidentally bumped into a man at the next table on the dance floor and witnesses claimed that there were at least 20 people who attacked the three young men.

During the brawl, the victim got stabbed with a knife in the right side of his chest. Ah Chai sustained injuries to his head and chest but the other friend was not injured.

The 22-year-old victim was quickly rushed to Hospital Kuala Lumpur but was pronounced dead from his wounds at about 9.30am. His friend was sent to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital (HUKM) to be treated for his injuries but he refused and left.

The police managed to arrest four suspects on Sunday following investigations into the incident. They arrested four men aged between 21 and 22 in Kajang but are still looking for other suspects and witnesses to assist with the investigations.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa said, “We are still investigating the motive behind the incident. So far, we are not ruling out any possibility, including a misunderstanding.”

It’s truly scary how something so small could escalate like that, turning deadly even.
