Couples usually go to great lengths to impress their mother-in-laws. Some go to extravagant lengths to leave a good impression. Unfortunately, that was not the case for this couple.

Police have arrested a couple Kulai, Johor after they used a motorcycle in a robbery at a bus stop on 3rd July around 2am. The twist? The couple were tracked down using the motorcycle’s registration number – which was revealed to belong to the girl’s mother, according to Harian Metro.

The suspects are a man (age 28) and his girlfriend (age 23). Fortunately, there were a lot of witnesses at the crime scene and some of them managed to memorise the motorcycle’s number plate. Then, the eyewitnesses passed the information to the police.

The police chief of Kulai, Superintendent Tok Beng Yeow, said that the police received a report about a man claiming to have been mugged around 3.20 am on the same day.

The police investigated the crime and arrested the couple near their flat block during a midnight raid.

According to the superintendent, the couple confessed to the crime after getting arrested, and they were brought to the district’s police headquarters to assist in the investigation. The man has two previous criminal records while the woman had none. It was also noted that the man tested positive for drugs in a urine test, though his companion did not.

He also added that the police also seized a Suzuki Axelo 125 motorcycle, helmet, keys and a car remote.

Both of the suspects are remanded for seven days starting today (9th July) to 15th July in order to assist in the investigation under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code.

There are a lot of ways to get on your mother-in-law’s good side. Using her motorcycle to rob someone is definitely not one of them.
