Due to the rising number of cases, everyone is reminded to just #stayathome unless you really need to leave for necessary purposes only. In conjunction with this, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) announced that you can now renew your motorcycle license and driving license online through the myEG system.
If you’re a motorcycle license holder (LKM), you can renew it online starting 9 October 2020. However, for the Competent Driver’s License (CDL), it can be renewed online starting 16 October. This move by the JPJ is a government initiative to digitalise services while adhering to new norms. The online services do NOT include Driving Learning License (LDL) and Trial Driving License (PDL).
In a statement, JPJ said that the online service through the myEG system for LKM renewal matters is only for private vehicles. They also explained that JPJ has been facing service disruption ever since the Movement Control Order and had to even close a few counters which have inconvenienced many Malaysians. Thus, through this initiative, JPJ hopes to be more efficient in handling their services for the people.
Kudos to JPJ for making it easier for all of us to follow SOPs especially in the worrying state now. Let’s all continue practising SOPs and physical distancing at all times!
