Along with the #KempenBenderaPutih (White Flag Campaign), Malaysians have been very supportive of each other during this hard time. From companies and NGOs to individuals, everyone is trying their best to help wherever they can to lend a hand to those in need.

A new application called the Bendera Putih App has been developed recently to help people locate food banks and white flag locations all across Malaysia.

The application has two main features in assisting Malaysians: a food bank locator and the identification of white flags to provide direct food aid to those in need. When you first visit the site, you’ll be asked to sign in with your Google account before seeing a Malaysian country map with icons indicating white flags and food banks.

According to the website, the locations of the foodbanks will be updated from time to time. And if you come across any food banks in your area that you would want the team to add to the website, simply fill out this form.

How to report or ask for help

If you require assistance or have noticed a white flag in your neighbourhood and want to get help for the household in need, just follow these three simple steps:

  1. Upload an image of the White Flag or an image of the premise.
  2. Set your location or the location of the White Flag. (Don’t worry, the app assures that the exact location won’t be shown on the map. Only the general vicinity will be shown to protect the person’s privacy when moderating.)
  3. Provide additional remarks of what you see to assist those who are helping the needy.

We applaud the Bendera Putih App team for this amazing initiative! May this project continue to help our fellow Malaysians in the future.
