Following public outbursts and mass traffic jams that lasted for hours at the Sungai Besi and Jalan Duta toll plazas, the roadblocks at the respective locations have been removed to ease traffic flow.

Here are several crowd-sourced footages that likened the congestion to our usual festive weekend jams pre-MCO days to remind you just how bad traffic conditions were.

According to the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief Asst Commissioner Zulkefly Yahya, the congestion was attributed to the high number of vehicles on the road.

“80% of cars were on the road yesterday (comparing yesterday’s numbers to pre-MCO days), with 90% of them originating from the Klang Valley and 10% from other states with proper travel permits.”

“Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin advised us to remove the roadblocks.”

“The roadblocks at Sungai Besi toll plaza and Jalan Duta toll plaza have been removed.”

He also advised the public to follow SOPs and avoid traveling when necessary to help curb the spread of Covid-19.
