Rojak is one dish that most Malaysians have definitely ordered — be it from a roadside stall, a food truck, your neighbourhood mamak, or coffee shop.
While a rojak dish would typically consist of fried dough, coconut fritters, tofu, crispy cucur and many more, this rojak, in particular, has an element of surprise that would instantly trigger your gag reflexes.
Facebook page Sabahan Bah shared a post posted about a stall in Kota Kinabalu that served rojak with an additional serving of rat’s head.
No, it wasn’t a scene from the movie Ratatouille, and it’s certainly not as fun to see as the movie.
We hope that this doesn’t put you off your dinner, but here are several pictures that should serve as ample evidence:
These rat punishments are getting more severe, huh? First, it was crucifixion. Now, beheading?
In its status, Sabahan Bah writes,
“Be careful with what you eat. To shop owners, do your job well and ensure cleanliness bha.”
The woman who took the photo commented and explained why she shared it.
In her comment, she writes,
“The reason why I posted this was not for the sake of virality. The rat’s head came with the prepackaged peanut sauce and was poured on the rojak. The purpose of this post was not to condemn the shop owner but rather to serve as a warning that such things can happen to you.”
So far no reports have been made to the police or even local authorities for further action. Cleanliness should not be taken lightly by those who work in the food and beverages sector.
One mistake is all it takes for a shop to go viral for all the wrong reasons.
