Malaysian actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has reached yet another historic milestone, being immortalised with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Variety took to their X page to share Yeoh’s acceptance speech at the star’s unveiling, where she was joined by acclaimed directors Ang Lee and Jon M. Chu.

A journey beyond borders
During her speech, the Oscar-winner reflected on her unconventional path to global stardom.
“The path from Malaysia to here wasn’t a straight line. There were moments I wondered if I belonged. But I was fortunate to be part of stories that crossed borders and languages, stories that reminded us how deeply connected we all are,” she shared.
“Thank you all for surrounding me with love, for being my safe harbour, and for helping me stay true to my own North Star. The star may carry one name, but it represents so many people who made this journey possible. I hope it reminds someone, somewhere, that it is possible. That where you begin does not define where you can go.”
Inspiring the next generation

Yeoh also shared a poignant memory from her childhood, recalling how she was once just a young girl dreaming of making her mark on the world.
“Once I was a little girl from Malaysia, sitting under the vast sky, looking up at a single, steady star and daring to believe I could follow it.”
