All future married couples should watch and learn!
With the current state of the pandemic, it must be difficult for wedding couples to plan their wedding and some even having to conduct it without their friends and family. However, this Singapore couple decided not to let the pandemic dampen their creativity and still had an amazing pre-wedding photoshoot!
Sherlene Soon and her husband are huge fans of Yuen Qiu and Yuen Wah (the infamous landlord couple from the 2004 movie Kungfu Hustle) and other movies where they played mahjong players including the 2016 film, My Beloved Bodyguard. Thus, the couple decided to recreate the iconic pictures for their pre-wedding photoshoot and shared the results with the popular Facebook group, Subtle Asian Traits!
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Sherlene said she envisioned this even before she met her husband! She actually wanted the actual kung-fu hustle outfit but they didn’t have enough time, so they only managed to recreate the pictures from My Personal Bodyguard.
A year before she met her husband, she already knew she wanted to do this photoshoot and as luck would have it, her husband turned out to be a lover of Hong Kong comedies too! What a match made in heaven.
She added that they chose these two actors as they always pull off the most hilarious roles and they also happen to always be gambling or playing mahjong which both she and her husband love!
If you watched Kung-fu Hustle, her superpower is shouting at people and I’m very very loud so everyone always says I’m like her (which I take as a compliment)!”
Shedding light into the process, Sherlene said the cheongsam is from a local Singapore shop (Golden Scissor Cheongsam) and the top picture of her husband is an outfit from Taobao. Sherlene told WOB that the backdrop was the hardest to get as they went cloth hunting and it took them very long to decide on the perfect backdrop.
It’s amazing to see Sherlene’s post getting so much from the Subtle Asian traits family. They also thanked everyone for the love as they had fun shooting the pictures as well!
