Coldplay’s concert is over but the great show will definitely not be forgotten. More shows have been scheduled for the remainder of the year and we’ll not be surprised if that means more calls to ban these shows. A recent lesser-known concert, however, circulated on social media and shocked Malaysians for its location.
A concert with sexy Thai singers was held in Bachok, Kelantan last Friday night (November 24).
The video of the performance circulated on social media and was also shared by local singer, Baby Shima on her Facebook account who pointed out the irony of the location of the concert.
“They use to ban my show and recently, Coldplay’s show in KL. Apparently there’s a sexier show going on there.”
The head of Wanita PKR Kelantan, Nor Azmiza Mamat also responded to the viral concert and said the concert did not comply with the Entertainment Control Enactment of the state. In Azmiza’s statement, it is said that the concert was held in conjunction with the Loy Kratong Festival.
Azmiza said the festival is permissible but not the attire of the Thai singers on stage, and urged the state government to look into the matter and investigate the violation of the enactment.
“Unless, the concert in Kelantan is not affected by the Entertainment Control Enactment of Kelantan.”
According to the concert invitation shared by a Facebook user, the concert was indeed held in Bachok, Kelantan. However, the invitation was open to all Buddhists in conjunction with the Loy Krathong Festival and Thod Krathin Samathi.
Netizens, on the other hand, were still shocked by the concert that was held last Friday night.
“In Selangor, it’s called immoral. In Kelantan, it’s called tolerating.”
“Wow. Did that really happen in Kelantan?”
At the time of writing (November 28), Kelantan state government has yet to respond to the viral concert. To those staying in Kelantan, were you aware of this event?
