Look, it’s 2020, Covid-19 is a huge issue that is weighing on everyone’s minds. Which is why most of us are taking extra cautious steps to avoid the transmission and infection of the virus through bodily fluids, most crucially, spit. That is, after all, what the whole point of wearing a face mask is to begin with.

However, it would appear that not everyone is aware of why spit is such a big deal. And worse still, some people, like this chef who has recently gone viral, simply ignore how unhygienic and downright disgusting it is to spit in someone’s food.

The incident, which occurred in Xi’an, China, was caught on camera when the chef of a Chinese restaurant spit a huge glob of saliva into his customer’s food, before stir-frying it in the wok as though nothing had happened.

It was reported by Sin Chew Daily that he had apparently done so out of annoyance, as the customer has sent their dish back and asked for a new dish to be cooked again.

But once the ‘fresh’ dish was sent back, the customer discovered a cigarette butt in their food and asked to review the CCTV footage of the restaurant’s kitchen. Not only did the chef not wear a face mask while cooking, he also spat into the food.

As a result for this completely crass and disgusting act, the restaurant now faces business suspension, a 100,000 Yuan (RM 61,062.38) fine, and the possibility of having its operating license revoked. All over one chef.

What do you guys think of this situation?
