A “Superman” on a motorcycle was recently arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Kuantan, Pahang.

A 17-second video has been circulating on social media that shows several individuals on motorcycles performing dangerous stunts on the road during an illegal race. The footage was recorded by one of the riders, and little did they know that the circulating footage got the attention of the police.

The results of the initial check, however, showed that the motorcycle’s registration number was in the name of a 21-year-old individual, who said he did not perform the dangerous stunt.

The owner of the motorcycle had lent his bike to a friend

It was later revealed that the owner of the motorcycle had lent his bike to a friend who was subsequently arrested by the police.

Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah, said that the arrest was made after the motorcycle owner called his friend to the Kuantan Traffic Police Station on Tuesday (20 January). At the station, the man verbally admitted that the viral video was of him performing the dangerous stunts on Jalan Kuantan Bypass.

The suspect was arrested, and the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, as reported by Sin Chew, and according to an official police statement.

In its statement, PDRM also reminded the public that road safety is a shared responsibility, and warned others not to turn the roads into a place to show off dangerous actions that endanger themselves and other road users.
