Those who run animal shelters and work to rescue stray animals are often the most noble people. But, they’re also often the people who receive the least help from the general public.
An animal shelter in Tuaran, Sabah, is now in danger of closing down as they’re struggling to find the funds to keep their doors open and care for the animals that they’ve taken in.
Animal Lovers Independent Rescuer – ALIR recently took to their Facebook page to share several pleas to the general public to help them stay open and operational. They added that they are unable to take in anymore animals because of their extremely limited supplies.
They wrote, “We are sorry to inform that we will not be able to accept any new cases at the moment. We don’t have anymore funds to buy food for our rescue dogs and cats. We don’t even have money to pay for our staffs’ salaries.”
“We have not been able to collect enough funds for our previous cases as well, yet there are still many cases that haven’t been updated. We might not be able to continue our mission anymore and soon, we might need to shut down. Sorry to burden you all.”
In order to stay open and carry on with their purpose of rescuing animals, they’re in need of help!
ALIR shared a list of items that the general public can donate to them, mainly:
- Rice
- Raw chicken, fish, meat
- Dog and cat (dry and wet) food
- Sand and pinewood litter for cats
- Pet sheets for paralysed animals
- Bleach (for cleaning purposes)
- Laundry detergent (for cleaning purposes)
- Liquid floor detergent (for cleaning purposes)
- Garbage bags
- Wet tissues
- Old newspapers
- Cages
- Blankets
- Towels
You can also choose to donate money, where the funds will be used to purchase the items they need to stay open.
