Normal human beings like most of us who are not building robots and wearing an iron suit (Yes, we’re talking about Tony Stark) have an average intelligence quotient (IQ) of 90 to 110.
In order to be recognised as a gifted person, you need to score at least 130 according to the Stanford-Binet intelligence scale, and this kid has certainly done that!
A child named Laurent Simons from Belgium impressed the world when he completed his secondary education in just 18 months at the age of eight, while his classmates were all 18-year-old students, thanks to his IQ score of 145.
During an interview with a Belgium radio station, the kid said his favourite subject is mathematics, and his reason being was – “because it’s (maths) so vast, there’s statistics, geometry, algebra.” Yeah, not sure if we share the same enthusiasm with Laurent.
Being blessed with such a high IQ score means that he would inevitably be a little different from the other kids. His father said Laurent struggled to play with other children when he was younger, and that he showed very little interest in toys. Instead, he liked to spend more time around adults.
At first, the brainy kid wanted to be a surgeon and an astronaut, but he changed his mind and considered going into computers. We’ve all had ambitions about becoming doctors and lawyers, didn’t we?
“If he decided tomorrow to become a carpenter, that would not be a problem for us, as long as he is happy,” his father said.
Laurent is currently enjoying his two-month school holiday and will be enrolling into university soon. We’re sure it’s going to be a piece of cake for him. Whatever you do, please be wise when finding teammates for group assignments, Laurent!
