The viral balloon trader from Jalan TAR in a physical dispute with DBKL enforcers has lodged a police report and taken legal action. According to his doctor, the trader’s condition is far worse than many have imagined.

The balloon trader, Muhamad Za’imuddin Azlan, is at risk for permanent paralysis due to severe spinal injury.

Dr Mohd Hafidz Rizal Amran explained that Za’imuddin has started to feel numbness in his limbs due to his dented bones. In other words, the trader’s body condition is currently fragile, and Dr Hafidz said the next 48 days are crucial in giving the best care possible to Za’imuddin, reported Malaysia Gazette.

“He should not engage in heavy work and move vigorously. His bones are dented and fragile. One small mistake could cause him to be paralysed. We have granted him 48 days of sick leave.”

The doctor also said that Muhamad Za’imuddin was unable to undergo hernia surgery as scheduled on April 18 due to a thoracic spinal cord injury. He said the full medical report is expected to be completed within 40 days, and it is valid to be presented in court.

“If asked to rate the pain he was experiencing between one and ten, the victim feels the pain at level eight because not only the bones are involved but also his nerves.”

In another update, DBKL is considering the expanded use of body cameras following the viral incident.

According to DBKL Advisory Board Member Lai Chen Heng, the use of body cameras has already begun, but it is currently only used in large-scale operations such as raids on unlicensed premises.

“The proposal to expand the use of the body cameras will be brought forward in the near future. However, we need to carefully consider the cost and data storage system aspects because the number of enforcement personnel is very large,” reported Buletin TV3.

He explained that apart from the high price of the cameras, DBKL also needs to invest in a system for storing daily data collected through camera recordings.
