The house does not have a kitchen.
A digital art creation called the Mars House has recently been sold for more than 500k USD. The Toronto-based artist Krista Kim sold her unique virtual house as a Non-fungible token(NFT) for 288 ethers(ETH), which is approximately $516,980 USD.
NFT is not interchangeable, and it can be used to represent any kind of creative work in digital files. Speaking to CNBC, Kim says that her intention was to look beyond the Mars House as a piece of art. “For me, I actually foresee that we will be living in an augmented reality lifestyle within a very short period,” she said.
She also added that, just like tattoos, we will soon be able to express ourselves with digital assets. Mars house, the first “digital” house for sale in history, was designed with tempered glass and fabrics, all renewable materials.
The house features a magnificent view of the planet Mars. The interiors include a bedroom, a shower, as well as a swimming pool. It does not have a kitchen but there is a dining table. According to Kim, she wanted to create a meditative environment, like a digital Zen garden. She designed the Mars House during March 2020, the first lockdown period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The new owner of the Mars House will be able to experience digital real estate, that is, to upload the file into various metaverses, the 3D immersive worlds. Watch the full 3D view of the Mars House here.
