The pandemic has without a doubt affected the world, causing inflation and possible regression in the years to come.

Just recently, a Malaysian page called Malaysian PAYGAP has shared a post regarding a 17-year-old teen.

The 17-year-old teen has shared that he is currently earning RM14k per month as a backend engineer.

He mentioned that:

“My job is remote and the employees in the company are from countries like Dubai, Myanmar and the UK.

The team is expanding and because the product is used within our community, it gives me the satisfaction to see that it is widely used.

Personally, I’m very happy with my company now as there’s no micromanagement involved.

There are daily standups that I have to attend but it’s a good way to make sure that my peers and I are in sync. ”

He ended the message by saying:

“I think that work experience is very important as you move on in life. There isn’t much perks but along the way you get to learn a lot of soft skills. If you’re keen on being a software developer, learn the fundamentals instead of jumping straight into frameworks. I’m not a computer science graduate so I had to learn the fundamentals on my own.”

“But it really helped me a lot as companies care more about whether you know how their software/appliances work.”

Keep up the good work young man, we’re all proud of your achievements!
