Following Awesome TV’s official statement about the alleged unpaid wages of 3 Malaysian comedians, one of them, Amir Raja Lawak, broke the silence and responded to the TV station.

With Awesome TV suing the comedians for dematory remarks, Amir sarcastically thanked the TV station as he did not expect such a response from the company.

In his Facebook post last night (August 7), Amir expressed his disappointment over the response, saying,

“Alhamdulillah (thank God), thank you, Awesome TV, if this is the price for my hardwork, our (other comedians’) hardwork, thank you so much”

Amir has been asking for his salary for a long time following his last project with Awesome TV, and recently, the comedian had no choice but to call them out publicly as he’s in dire need of money. With the alleged unpaid RM18,000 salary, Amir needed the money for his father’s hospital treatment.

In another Facebook post today (August 8), Amir revealed that his father has been, once again, admitted to the hospital following a surgery last month. With his salary unpaid and yet another episode with his father’s health, Amir could only hold back his tears.

“My father asked how many days will I be away in KL. I could only respond to him in sign language, and told him that I’ll be away just for a few days.”

“I had to hold back my tears, but I cried eventually. I had no choice but to work for now to fund for his treatment.”

Other comedians who are being sued also responded

In his Instagram story today, Mamak Puteh also briefly responded to Awesome TV’s statement, saying that the company allegedly twisted their words, and the other production companies, which Awesome TV claimed should’ve paid the comedians, never existed.

Abu Mamu, on the other hand, simply responded via his Instagram story by saying, “God knows everything.”
