Everyone nowadays is working hard to survive with the rising cost of living and this is the story of how a man who lived in poverty tried to change his life and succeeded!

This is the story of Muhammad Azlan al Amin from Kelantan. Back in 2005, he was working as a rubbish collector for a cleaning contractor at the Royal Malaysian Air Force base in Gong Kedak, Kelantan, reported The Star.

As he didn’t have money, he would collect the chicken and fish thrown out by the canteen operators to tapau back home so that his family will have something to eat. He said,

“That was how difficult life was. We were poor, and in a survey that was carried out, my family was found to be the poorest in Kampung Tok Raja, Besut.”

One day, he went home and his mother was washing his shirt when she saw worms dropping out of his pocket. She cried. And that was the day that he became determined to turn his life around.

In 2010, after his farm failed, he decided to leave Besut to find a job in Jertih. With only RM1.30 in his pocket, he soldiered on. Thankfully, he met the right person there and that changed his life. The person he met was a property agent who asked if he wanted to work with him, and Muhammad Azlan saw the opportunity and took it!

Muhammad Azlan is now the owner of Azlan A-Amin Properties Sdn Bhd, and he says that his secrets are not only hard work and determination but also by giving back to others, practising his religion and taking care of his elderly parents.

“Make poverty as motivation and wealth as an inspiration. When we have acquired wealth, be generous and help others. In times of hardship, never forget Allah and give alms, and always be grateful and appreciate the sacrifices of our parents.”

If you would like to know more about his whole journey of success, you can get his book, Rahsia Pengutip Sampah Jadi Jutawan (Secrets Of A Rubbish Collector Who Becomes A Millionaire) here.
