Pictures are for illustration purposes only. But does it justify a major difference from what’s shown in the images?
Recently, in a post that has since been deleted, a Malaysian shared a couple of images of the fried noodles that she had ordered from a food delivery platform. The image below shows the fried noodles as shown on the delivery platform.
Now, here’s how it looked when the food was delivered to her doorstep.
According to the caption, the food was listed on the popular menu of the unnamed restaurant.
‘The food tastes so bad. It was definitely my first and last (time trying it).’
The image has sent fellow Malaysians into anger who criticised the unnamed shop for conducting business in such an irresponsible manner. Most of them expressed their dissatisfaction with the final outcome of the food which was served to customers.
‘How hard is it to cook fried noodles with soy sauce? Why would you serve it that way?’
‘It’s common. Everything looks good on social media, but not when you see it with your own eyes.’
‘Looks like worms to me. Why would you ruin your reputation by serving such food?’
‘It pissed me off to see the difference.’
‘The vegetables are so small and it doesn’t even look like a fried noodle.’
‘That’s brutal.’
In the meantime, other users could also relate to the incident as some of them had a somewhat similar experience in the past when ordering via a food delivery application.
‘As lazy as I can be, my fried noodles still look like how they should be. This looks like a tapeworm.’
‘Did he just wash the noodles and poured some soy sauce?’
‘This is too much! I took away a Kampung Fried Rice and it was so dark! The anchovies and onions were burnt. The rice was bitter and the vegetables were scarce.’
We understand that most eateries have stated that pictures of the food are strictly for illustration purposes only. In this case, do you think the outcome of the food justifies the difference? Would you have lodged a complaint if you were the recipient of the food?
