Netizen @kixes tweeted her disappointment at how some malls in Singapore are not embracing Deepavali as they should be. She cited one particular mall that even put up Christmas decorations instead!

Seriously? No wonder some people have become quite salty about this.

Paired with the image of a 3o-foot Christmas tree, @kixes was downright disgusted at the approach taken by several private outlets to disregard Deepavali entirely and even gave more focus on Halloween too.

Here is what she had to say in her tweet:

Urging malls in Singapore to do better, she mentions how disappointed she is that Halloween has become the preferred celebration completely sidelining the Indian community in the country.

However, she received much backlash with many defending the decisions made by private establishments, citing reasons such as income — with Christmas being more profitable than Deepavali than Halloween.

It is daunting that there are those out there who are more comfortable promoting capitalistic values instead of their own peoples’.

Let’s ensure that this is not the culture we want crossing the causeway anytime soon.
