A 24-year-old security guard in Penang has been arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) on suspicion of raping a female Australian tourist.
The suspect, who has eight prior criminal records, will be remanded for six days to assist with the investigation.

According to a report by Sin Chew Daily, the 21-year-old victim said she had been drinking at a bar with a male friend from England. The friend later complained of a headache, which is when the suspect approached them.
He offered to take both of them to the hospital but allegedly abandoned the Englishman halfway.

Following a police report, the suspect was arrested yesterday (June 28) at around 8:55 pm. The case is currently being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
