28-year-old Malaysian actor and singer, Naim Daniel, recently pleaded not guilty at the Putrajaya Court for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in a hotel room in Petaling Jaya.
Naim, who recently appeared in local action flick Keluang Man as Samad, had audiences wondering about his fate in the movie sequel. The executive producer of Keluang Man, Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, broke the silence and revealed whether Naim would appear as Keluang Man’s sidekick in the future.
“At the moment, Naim Daniel is not Tiong Man.”
Wait, who is Tiong Man?
To those who are unfamiliar, Keluang Man is adapted from a cartoon series that graced the small screen on TV1 from 1998 to 2005. Borhan, a mental illness patient in Hospital Bahagia, helps those in need at night in his alter ego, Keluang Man.
As the series progressed, Samad, who is Borhan’s best friend in Hospital Bahagia, became Keluang Man’s sidekick, known as Tiong Man.
Naim Daniel appeared in the movie as Samad, but his character did not develop into Tiong Man. Many fans had speculated that Naim is set to appear as Tiong Man in future sequels of Keluang Man.
However, Raja Jastina pointed out that what audiences had seen in Keluang Man does not necessarily point to anything, and nothing is certain.
“We have yet to decide who will play specific characters in Keluang Man’s sequel.”
“We will happily inform everyone when we are certain about the actors and their respective roles,” Raja Jastina said, according to Kosmo.
Raja Jastina added that the creative team behind Keluang Man is still planning the storyboard for the sequel. Keluang Man was released two weeks ago in Malaysian cinemas, with Nas-T playing the titular character.
