Former Prime Minister Najib Razak is currently serving his 6-year jail sentence in Kajang prison, and despite his history of stomach ulcers, he receives medical care when needed.

According to a viral Facebook post, it was rumoured that the former PM had passed away in the hospital last week. Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, through her Facebook post, responded to the news of her husband’s alleged “death”.

“Najib sends his Aidilfitri regards”

In response to Najib’s “death” due to an unspecified illness, Rosmah dubbed the news “defamation” and told those who spread the fake news to repent before it’s too late. Rosmah also confirmed that her husband is alive and well, and the former PM has a message to all his supporters.

“Najib sends his Aidilfitri regards to all the supporters.”

In the meantime, Rosmah herself also sent a reminder to those who were behind the hoax, saying,

“Only God knows what it feels like. To those who are doing this, please stop it. We’re living on borrowed time, and our time in this world is short.”

The Facebook post by Latif Putera Johor, which includes an image of Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi visiting Najib in the hospital, circulated on social media, sparking rage amongst the supporters of Najib Razak.

Shortly after Najib was sent to prison, his daughter, Yana Najib, shared that her father sometimes had to receive treatment at the hospital due to his stomach ulcer. Yana also said that her father was not doing well mentally as he was worried about the people during the 15th General Election season.

Now that Rosmah has confirmed the condition of her husband, we hope the rumours will cease.
