It is obvious that the Malaysian government, especially Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, is doing everything they can to convince a very unwilling majority of people to register for the Central Database Hub (PADU).
And what would further ruin the authorities’ plans for this? A hacking scandal.
The jediMASTER Twitter page recently shared how an anonymous hacker group, ROOTK1T, had hacked into PADU and specifically, Rafizi Ramli’s account.
“This will be a BIG EMBARRASSMENT to Rafizi Ramli and the PH-Madani government if this is true. PADU has been HACKED?” the jediMASTER Twitter page wrote.
In the post, they shared screenshots of what appears to be ROOTK1T’s hack on PADU
They also were allegedly attempting to sell the information they apparently got from their hack through bids with a starting price $50,000 (RM235,850).
“The Minister of Economy of Malaysia denies the hack at PADU? Well, ROOTK1T begs to differ.”
“We’re offering the sale of PADU’s database while we sneakily grab a screenshot from the Minister of Economy’s profile on PADU. Starting price is $50,000 (RM235,850), offer your price in a private message to our user, ROOTK1TOfficial. Remember, the highest bid wins,” the group allegedly shared.
And while ROOTK1T have apparently doubled down on claims that they hacked PADU, the Ministry of Economy have previously denied the claims.
“The PADU team has investigated the alleged intrusion on the Central Database Hub (PADU). The review found that the claim is FALSE and the public is advised not to spread such false information,” they explained.
Additionally, Malaysians too believe that the hacking claim is false as they believe the screenshot of Rafizi Ramli’s PADU account is just a badly edited picture.
“ROOTK1T scam. It is clear that the photo of Rafizi Ramli’s name is merely photoshopped. They say they are hackers, but their work isn’t clean. Try to monitor the background of the picture and the surrounding of Rafizi’s name. There’s an unblemished patch.”
“Brother, the shadow’s colour in the font and the background are not the same colour. Later, edit it again and repost.”
“Fuiyoh, hacking using inspect element. Wow.”
“Inspect element that even primary school kids know how to do.”
Perhaps the hacker group can set their sights on more important things, like hacking the Malaysian economy to stop prices from skyrocketing.
