“They were hogging the lane”

However, another car (the one from which the dashcam footage was recorded) suddenly crashes into the group of cyclists from behind, colliding with at least two of them and throwing them off their bikes.

The video has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many expressing relief.

Netizens respond

Some netizens pointed out that the cyclists had been hogging the road and disrupting traffic for a while, with one describing the incident as a “timely lesson.”

The comment reads,

“Hope all cyclists learn to be more self-aware. See, you got hit. Even though both sides were at fault, it’s still a lesson for everyone to reflect on themselves.”

Other netizens began flooding the comment section with their own thoughts and reactions.

“Good, I really can’t stand people who have no common sense. They just make the roads more congested.”

“This honestly made my day. Sorry, but every day I curse under my breath watching these king of people. Now that I’ve seen this, I feel like they totally deserved it. During peak hours when everyone’s rushing to work, they just have to squeeze in and make traffic worse. It’s exhausting for those of us driving cars and motorcycles.”

“JPJ should ban bicycles from using roads, especially highways. It’s dangerous.”

“Why use the main roads meant for cars? Even the side lanes aren’t enough for them. They think their bicycles are as big as lorries.”

Meanwhile, others had a different take on the situation.

“Did the person who hit them do it accidentally or what? It’s turned into a serious issue involving someone’s life. The driver should’ve just honked or acted appropriately instead.”

“Looks like it was done on purpose. Sure, the cyclist was in the wrong, but that doesn’t mean you should try to kill them. Even when there’s a carcass on the road, we still try to avoid it. You post that video and you might be the one who gets dragged in later.”

“The driver hit the cyclists on purpose because they could’ve still avoided the cyclists from a distance, even if the they were in the wrong!”
