Although Menu Rahmah became a big hit amongst consumers and business owners after its launch, it seems that some businesses are coming up with other special menus.

According to Sinar Harian, a restaurant in Kedah has introduced a special menu with each dish priced at RM1 known as ‘Menu Sanusi’ to help the public.

The owner, Nur Ezzeanni Abdullah, said that she had actually been selling several types of menus priced at RM1 since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, Nur Ezzeanni said they branded the RM1 menu as the Sanusi Menu after the victory of Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor in the recent Kedah State Election (PRN).

“Among the foods priced at RM1 are curry noodles, laksa, kuey teow, spice fried chicken, chicken cooked in soy sauce, rose chicken, chicken rendang and so on.”

“Almost every day, we provide different menu options for customers, for example, today we cook curry noodles and when it runs out we will add another menu,” she said when met at her shop.

Nur Ezzeanni, who has been running the restaurant for 17 years, explained that the RM1 menu proves that there are cheap menus sold to customers.

“So, when people remember Sanusi’s Menu, people remember that near Kedah they will sell cheap food,” she said.

She hopes that the Sanusi Menu will indirectly introduce Kedah again and help the public, and that she did not see it as a loss, but rather as a form of charity to the local residents.

“There is no loss, on the contrary, we still gain, even at least we can help the community, which mostly consist of rubber tappers,” she said.
