The recent disruptions to the Kelana Jaya LRT line has led to chaos in the capital as daily commuters struggled to make their way to their intended destinations with the bus replacements.

Although Prasarana have since apologised and said that immediate action will be taken to solve the issue, it appears that ordinary Malaysians as well as politicians are unhappy and want those in management to step down immediately.

In an attempt to rectify the woes of the rakyat, RapidKL announced last night that they will be providing passengers affected by service disruptions free fares for each day of service disruption to Kelana Jaya Line LRT.

“This will be implemented after the service of the route is restored. Detailed information will be announced soon.”

In a statement released by them on their social media accounts, they also highlighted other measures that are being taken to help ease the issues.

Following the closure of 16 stations on the Kelana Jaya LRT Line, starting November 10, Rapid Bus will add 20 free intermediate buses to carry affected passengers, after Rapid Bus got cooperation from Smart Selangor and Mara Liner to provide 20 buses each under operation them,” they added.

They explained that for now, “Rapid Bus provides a total of 83 buses to accommodate the high number of passengers. The number of intermediate buses to more than 100 is to accommodate passengers on 5 routes which are:

  • LRT Route 1: Ara Damansara Station – Pasar Seni Station,
  • LRT Route 2: Ara Damansara Station – Kelana Jaya Station,
  • LRT Route 3: Kelana Jaya Station – Pasar Seni Station,
  • LRT Route 4: Pasar Seni Station – Masjid Jamek Station,
  • LRT Route 5: Masjid Jamek Station – Dato’ Keramat Station.

Furthermore, they said that they have increased the number of staff at stations to strengthen the control of passenger movement.

“A total of 80 people from Prasarana will be stationed at the stations to help passengers in terms of providing guidance for boarding the buses.”

Do you think that more compensation should be given to affected commuters?
