Rapid KL to Extend Operating Hours of Selected Routes Till 1:30 am For New Year’s Eve

Many people like to go out for countdowns and celebrations around the city to usher in the new year.

As it might get congested, most people opt to use public transport. For this New Year’s Eve, Rapid KL will be extending the operating hours of selected routes to facilitate public transport-using partygoers.

In a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), Rapid KL says that the service extension till 1:30 am would involve 12 light rail transit (LRT), mass rapid transit (MRT), KL monorail stations, 3 bus rapid transit (BRT) stations as well as 21 Rapid KL and MRT feeder bus routes.

The rail transit routes involved are:

  • Kelana Jaya LRT line involving the KLCC and Masjid Jamek stations,
  • Ampang LRT line to Sri Petaling (Masjid Jamek, Bandaraya, IOI Puchong Jaya and Maluri stations),
  • KL Monorail line (Bukit Bintang station),
  • Kajang MRT line (Bukit Bintang, TRX, Cochrane, Maluri and stations),
  • Putrajaya MRT line (TRX station),
  • Sunway BRT line (Sunway Lagoon, SunMed and SunU-Monash stations).

It is said that other stations will be closed at the normal operation times but passengers can exit from the stations to continue their journey, reported BERNAMA.

As for the bus routes, they involve buses 173, 190, 250, 772, LRT10, 400, 450, 590, 600, 640, 300, 303, 751, T460, T803, T101, T102, T103, T407, T504 and T509.

Passengers are urged to use their Touch n’ Go card for more seamless travel. Rapid KL also says that they will be increasing the number of staff and that the train frequency for all services will be increased to 8 minutes from 1 pm and 4 minutes from 8 pm until the end of the operating hours.
