With the government’s expansion of the scope of (), many goods have seen a price hike since July 1. Now, Malaysians’ favourite economical fast food, Ramly Burger, is allegedly increasing its price too.

Is Ramly Burger jacking up prices following the expansion of the SST?

In a viral Facebook post by Syahir, the user shared an official statement by Ramly Burger itself announcing a price hike in April this year, three months before the implementation of the expanded SST.

In the viral photo, a notice at a burger stall stated that the vendors would have to increase prices starting July 10, 2025, due to the increase in prices of raw materials, which was beyond their control.

The official statement from Ramly Burger, dated April 14, 2025, which stated that its products will see a 10% increase in prices, was also placed next to the announcement. Ramly Burger also cited operations costs as the reason.

In Syahir’s post, he also mentioned that Ramly Burger increased its prices in 2013, 2016, and 2022.

KPDN meets with Ramly Burger reps

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Minister Armizan Mohd Ali said that following a meeting on Tuesday, Ramly Burger was advised to consult with the KPDN Enforcement Division before raising the prices of their respective products. “Both companies explained that the increase in product prices was not at all related to the implementation of the sales and services tax (SST) rate expansion.”

“They also announced that they will be postponing the price hike,” Armizan said in a press conference, reported BERNAMA.
