Racecars Tried To Overtake Each Other On Perak Track, Causes Accident That Kills Spectator

The CCT Battle of Champion race was held at the Dato’ Sagor Circuit in Pasir Salak on 31 December. Later in the evening, one of the spectators was killed during the race.

According to BERNAMA, the Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the victim, aged 32, died while being treated at Changkat Melintang Hospital, Lambor Kanan.

“The autopsy revealed that the victim, a workshop operator, died of injuries to his head and bleeding in the lungs. Investigations are ongoing and the case has been classified as sudden death.”

The incident happened at around 3.30pm and a video of it was spread on social media platforms.

In the video, we can see that a red car was trying to overtake a yellow car who was not letting up, they touched each other and the red car lost control.

The yellow car continued on while the red car was in the grassy area where the spectator was standing at.

After the dust particles settled a little, other spectators ran to check on the victim and medical officers tried their best to give him first aid.

Unfortunately, he did not make it and died during treatment at the hospital.

This is truly an unfortunate case, we send our condolences to the family of the deceased.
