After a month of free use following its official opening for motorists on 16 September 2022, the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) is now imposing tolls for motorists starting at 12.01am earlier today. Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (PROLINTAS) in a statement yesterday confirmed that the toll collection involved the phase one alignment from the Cheras-Kajang intersection to the Bukit Antarabangsa intersection.
As reported by Bernama, like other highways in Malaysia, the toll collection at SUKE highway will be fully electronic using Touch ‘n Go, SmartTAG and RFID. Furthermore, fees will be charged to users passing through Bukit Teratai Toll Plaza and Ampang Toll Plaza.
As for the toll rates, it varies according to the vehicle cars, with cars being charged RM2.30, lorries RM4.60, trailers RM6.90, taxis RM1.20 and buses RM2.30. In the same statement, PROLINTAS also asserted that the SUKE operations department will constantly monitor the smoothness of the toll collection system at both toll plazas.
Moreover, staff will also be stationed at the toll lanes in both directions of the highway, especially during peak hours to help users who may face difficulties. Previously, PROLINTAS has also replaced the signboard for SUKE highway following complaints from road users regarding its small size.
