Sometimes, what one person says, despite how convincing he/she appears to be may not be the truth. For starters, an Indonesian maid in Johor recently went viral after she was rescued by a driver, who was told that she was abused by her employers.

Twitter page My News Hub shared a few videos that captured the conversation between the good Samaritan and the maid who begged the man to bring her out of the residential area as she was beaten and starving.

“I have not been given food for 2 days, and even if I just sat down, my employers called me lazy,” the maid cried.

According to the maid who has just worked here for 2 weeks, she has a child, and a husband with disabilities back in her homeland.

The man was touched by her struggle to leave her hometown to earn living in a foreign land. The kind-hearted man offered to buy her some food and they ate together.

The woman was really starving. She finished her food and 2 bottles of water within minutes. The man wanted to help as much as he could, so after the meal, he brought the maid to file a police report, in the hopes that she gets justice for her unfair treatment. They even visited the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru where the woman would get the right kind of help and protection.

We cannot deny that abusive employers exist everywhere but in this case, there’s a twist to that.

“She’s running away from employers because…”

Despite her tears and dramatic reaction, PDRM has since responded to the matter via a police statement last night (July 19), and denied all allegations that the maid has made.

Soon after the videos went viral, PDRM in Johor received a report from the employer of the maid who said that she went missing after stealing jewellery and cash worth more than RM10,000.

“Suspect ran away from her employer’s house in Taman Pelangi on July 17 at 11:21 am by climbing over the gate.”

Police also said that the maid was last seen in a black, striped shirt and a red pants, and they are currently on the hunt for the maid. The matter is being investigated under Section 381 of the Penal Code and if found guilty, she can be jailed up to 7 years.

The authorities urged the public to come forward if they have any information that might be helpful. In the meantime, you can go through those videos below.

There is always 2 sides of a story, and we hope that the maid can be found soon.
