A video of two cars in Aeon Cheras Selatan clamouring to slot into an empty parking space shows how when it comes to parking, Malaysian hospitality goes out the window.
Taking to Facebook, Engku Iskandar shared his story of how he was just trying to park his Honda BR-V when a wild Toyota Vios appeared and attempted to nose its way in.
He writes, “I used to read about these stories, but today, I found myself in one instead — another case of ‘chup’ parking.”
“This driver was so adamant of wanting that parking spot that he asked his wife to take the wheel while he ‘chup-ped’ it.”

In the video, the male driver could be seen instructing his wife to park the car, literally squeezing into the spot with his children watching.
Even worse, he allegedly came in the against the flow of traffic which made Engku all the more bewildered.
Now it would not be a story if there were no eye-witnesses of the incident. Luckily, another concerned netizen also recorded the event mentioning how the Toyota driver should not have been that inconsiderate.

“The guy should have just left the parking spot and let the Honda park there.”, the witness said.
Unfortunately, he clearly does not understand that what he did was wrong in the eyes of the law, and it is more embarrassing when he gets his family members involved in it as well.
FYI it’s wrong for a person to ‘chup’ a parking spot — if guilty, individuals can be fined a maximum of RM2,000 or face six months in prison.
For those with the urge to ‘chup’ a parking spot and be inconsiderate motorists to others, just remember that no one is above the law.
