Just recently, a Malaysian family in Bintulu, Sarawak did the unexpected by ordering 250 plates of pork and 350 plates of lamb… a total of 600 plates of meat! The family made the massive order during the Happy Hour all-you-can-eat promotion at a steamboat restaurant.
Unfortunately, they never planned to finish the meat on the spot. Taking advantage of the promotion, they discreetly packed the meat while looking at the CCTV, and that’s not even the worst part. According to the post shared on the Facebook page Husky Group Bintulu, you’ll be shocked to find out who else was there.
Both parents happily packed the meat while making sure their children did the same. The minds of the young souls are like sponges – they absorb what they’re taught and shown, and we can only imagine what other bad examples were taught to them at other times.
There were 3 adults and 2 children. Each adult paid RM39.42, and each child was charged RM26.82.
With a total price of RM163.30, the meal was considered cheap given the portion of meats they discreetly tapau-ed.
The owner of the restaurant expressed his regret in seeing the family showing a bad example to the young kids.
“It’s not easy to run a food business for 8 years, and this is my 1st time facing such a customer,” the owner said.
He initially did not want to expose the matter publicly. However, he finds it unfathomable that the parents could have the audacity to show a bad example to their children.
“Making this viral without exposing your face is mercy,” he added.
In an interview with China Press, the owner said that everyone was shocked when the family ordered 600 plates of meat. Despite his suspicion, he tried to look at the bright side and assumed that they were huge eaters.
Unfortunately, he knew he was too optimistic about the situation. He was utterly disappointed to see what he saw through the CCTV footage where the family had to discreetly pack the meat, and take advantage of the promotion.
“I’ll compensate the extra meat”
The restaurant owner also revealed that following the circulation of the matter, 1 of the parents reached out to him and offered to compensate for the extra meat.
“I told him it’s not really about the money but more about how he educates his children.”
The restaurant owner also said that he is still considering making a police report.
What you reap is what you sow. We do hope the family can learn a lesson from this mistake, and reach a common ground with the restaurant owner.
