Following the UMNO Youth Chief’s decision to provide free legal services to the OKU rider who was beaten and assaulted at Terengganu market, another organisation is ready to do something more than that.

The Chairman of Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia (G57), Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said the group will sue the assaulters for RM1 million. Zulkarnain said G57 is resorting to this method as a stern warning against the abuse and oppression of vulnerable groups, particularly persons with disabilities.

“This lawsuit against the assaulters is necessary because they took matters into their own hands but acted against the law.”

In the meantime, Zulkarnain also said G57 will be providing free legal services to the beaten rider, stating that the group will reach out to the family at their soonest, reported Malaysia Gazette and Harian Metro.

“We’ll speak to them and hopefully, they will agree to take legal actions and not withdraw the police report.”

“It’s no different from what Israel did to Gaza”

Zulkarnain also likened the OKU rider’s fate to the victims of war in Palestine, saying what the assaulters did was similar to Israel’s cruelty and reminded the public not to be double-standard when it comes to protecting the weak.

“We voice out against Israel’s cruelty, but what happened to the man is no different from Israel’s inhumanity.”

The chairman of G57 also said that the organisation is ready to compensate for the damages of the vendor’s stall after the OKU rider crashed into it.

Earlier, the rider crashed into the stall with his motorcycle, prompting some of the vendors at the Terengganu market to attack the rider. On the same night, PDRM apprehended the suspects to aid in the investigation.

What do you think of Zulkarnain’s decision to sue to assaulters?
