After causing havoc online for a couple of nights with his cryptic posts, Malaysian singer Namewee reemerged and said he decided to organise a farewell ceremony at Nirvana KL for himself after a hectic 2023, which made him realise the importance of pre-planning before death.
The loyal fans continued their support and those who found Namewee’s “strategy” too much, bid their farewell. Just last night (April 2), Namewee once again shared an IG @nameweephoto story and responded to all criticisms.
“If not on April Fool’s Day, then when?”
In his IG story, Namewee admitted that it has been a promotional “event” and marketing strategy for his new song but to him, it wasn’t an issue.
“Isn’t everyone doing the same thing on April Fool’s Day? If I don’t play on April Fool’s Day, when? Do I wait until the Lantern Festival?”
Namewee then added,
“If I said my penis was 30cm long on April Fool’s Day, would you believe it?”
He then assured the followers that the farewell ceremony was not done in a joking manner, but it was something serious to him, and also about creativity as a creator.
Namewee also shared what he thinks about the society today, saying,
“This society needs more humor and creativity. I use my way, my money to promote something I find meaningful. And most importantly, I didn’t use your money,” he explained.
In response to claims about boosting his engagement, Name said that he is merely doing what everyone has been doing all this while.
“All these media houses, the influencers, aren’t they boosting their engagement too? Stop acting like you’re innocent. That’s disgusting.”
Do you think Namewee has gone a little overboard with this, or do you think it was merely his creativity as a content creator and a singer?
