Shots were fired at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on April 14 (Sunday), after a man attempted to shoot his wife. Firing twice, 1 bullet missed while the other ended up hitting the wife’s bodyguard, leaving him fighting for life in a medically-induced coma at a hospital. You can read up more on this here.

The authorities are still on a manhunt for the suspect, who managed to flee KLIA without getting caught! This is now garnering concern from the general public.

The FreeMalaysian Twitter page recently shared their disappointment at how easily the suspect managed to escape from the airport, despite it being a place with an abundance of security and police presence.

They wrote, “Even though it was a personal matter that led to the crime, the fact that it happened at KLIA (doesn’t matter if it was outside the Customs area) and the culprit managed to escape from the scene shows how ill-prepared we are in guarding the nation’s main gateway. (This is a) wake up call.”

Echoing FreeMalaysian‘s disappointment, Malaysians too shared their concern over the lack of efficiency from police and security personnel at the airport while also bringing up the incident where Kim Jong Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un, was murdered at KLIA2 in 2017.

It truly is concerning how the suspect managed to escape from the airport considering airports should have a high number of security and police personnel present and patrolling that would make it impossible for the suspect to flee.
