Police has alerted that the man, now identified as Hafizul Harawi, is considered arm and dangerous.

Gunman threw a firecracker prior to the attack

According to law enforcements, he first threw a firecracker which injured 2 bystanders before approaching his wife who was at the entrance of the KLIA arrival hall.

“The suspect boldly approached the victim, his wife, and fired shots at close range, between three to four meters away.

“One shot missed while another hit a personal bodyguard. The actual target, the woman, escaped unharmed from the gunfire.

“The suspect then fled to the second floor of Block C, where he had parked his car.”

Police officers have since identified the suspect and alerts the public that he is armed and dangerous. They have since launched an operation to hunt down the suspect.

The Director of Criminal Investigations at Bukit Aman, Mohd Shuhaily, said that police teams from all nearby and bordering contingents with Selangor have been mobilized in the effort to hunt down the suspect.

“For now, we have identified the motive as more related to personal matters between the suspect and the victim. Once we capture the suspect, we will be able to determine the true motive behind this shooting incident,” he said according to Berita Harian.

Police urged the suspect to surrender peacefully at any nearby police station and not to escalate the situation further

“Surrender peacefully. What happened (the shooting) this morning has already occurred; what will happen next cannot correct the earlier incident.

Investigations also revealed that the suspect did not have a firearm permit and is believed to have obtained the weapon illegally.

“In this context, the police identify the suspect as armed and dangerous. We urge the public who have seen the suspect to share information with the police but not to take action on their own,” he said.
