The #UpdateInfo Twitter page recently showcased dashcam footage of a motorcycle convoy in Ampang, where a member of the convoy acted as a self-appointed traffic marshal to block the road for their convoy.
#UpdateInfo wrote, “Who gave him the power to block the way?”
In the dashcam footage showcased, the dashcam owner could be seen taking a U-turn on Jalan Ulu Klang, near Plaza Flamingo, when they encountered the motorcycle convoy.
At the U-turn, the self-appointed traffic marshal, who had their hazard lights on and was wearing a yellow vest, attempted to block the dashcam owner from using the road to allow the motorcycle convoy to pass first. But, the dashcam owner managed to squeeze past the self-appointed traffic marshal and carry on with their journey.
However, it’s not just the self-appointed traffic marshal’s actions that could be seen as a nuisance as other members of the convoy could also be seen weaving through traffic in a dangerous manner.
The convoy’s actions caused many to condemn them and call for the authorities to eradicate such entitled behaviour on the roads. People also praised the dashcam owner for not stopping when they were blocked by the self-appointed traffic marshal.
“With all due respect, JPJ and traffic police should prioritise eradicating this. They shouldn’t busy themselves with measuring vehicle number plate sizes or checking tinted windows. Make your priorities right, only then will the people respect you.”
“Marshals can only control the convoy, they cannot control traffic. You can ask other vehicles to slow down, but not fully stop. You are not the police.”
“One lane can fit 2 of the motorcycles (side by side), why are they trying to fight for 2 lanes?”
“So entitled, as though it’s their father’s road.”
