This is horrifying. We can’t imagine what it feels like to experience that!
A 21-year-old medical student from University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) reportedly broke both her legs when she slipped and fell five feet from the 10th floor of the female hostel yesterday morning (6 November) after climbing over the railing to retrieve her towel.
The third-year medical degree student, Lee Miao Lynn, fell on top of a roof on the seventh floor after trying to reach for her towel that was hanging on a railing along the corridor at around 10.30am.
According to The Star, Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said the victim’s friend had heard a loud thump from the roof and saw her friend lying there before immediately alerting the police.
Apparently, the students would usually hang their towels on the railing by the corridor as that area is exposed to more sunlight, as reported by Borneo Post Online.
The student was then taken to the Likas Hospital and is confirmed to have broken both her legs. Any other injuries have yet to be determined as more tests, including a CT scan, are being carried out.
Fortunately, the victim is now conscious and in stable condition. Phew!
We hope the victim recovers in no time! To everyone else living in high-rise buildings, be careful whenever you need to retrieve things from the balcony or corridor!
