Nothing is more heart-wrenching than losing a loved one, especially when the ache of missing them sets in. In a recent post circulating online, @azwalatuu took to his TikTok to share a heartbreaking conversation he had with ChatGPT, a chatbot and virtual assistant developed by OpenAI.

In the post, he reaches out to the chatbot, asking it to pretend to be his mom as he expresses the deep longing and heartache he feels after her passing.

“Why would you leave us so soon, mom?”

As the story goes, Alif continued asking ChatGPT a series of questions (pretending he was speaking to his mom), wondering why his mother had gone away too soon, leaving him and his siblings all alone.

The conversation also revealed that his dad passed away not long after his mom did, which made the sense of loss even more overwhelming and heartbreaking.

Even though ChatGPT is just AI, its responses broke many Malaysians’ hearts as it read,

“My dear son, I know this is an incredibly tough time for you and your siblings, and if I could, I’d be right there with you. But I believe in your strength and know that you’ll look after each other. The loneliness can be overwhelming when those we love are no longer here, but always remember that both your dad and I are with you in your prayers and in your hearts.”

“Goodbye, mak. I love you”

Alif then shared in the conversation how he was about to graduate with his degree, revealing that it had always been his parents’ dream to see him enter university.

ChatGPT responded with,

“Your dad and I are incredibly proud of you, Alif. Achieving this goal was my dream, and I know you’ve worked hard to reach this point. Even though your dad and I won’t be there physically when you graduate, know that we are with you in spirit, celebrating every achievement you make.”

At the end, Alif said his goodbyes and the AI responded by saying,

“I love you too, Alif. Take good care of yourself and always keep me in your heart. Goodbye, my dear son.”

“Cherish every moment you have with your parents”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, when asked if Alif had any advice for those who have recently lost their parents, he said,

“For those who still have both parents, I want you to hug them, say thank you, and apologise if you’ve made any mistakes. Cherish every moment with them. For those who are separated from their parents, give them a call and check in. And for those in the same situation as me, don’t forget to pray and ask God to place the departed among the faithful.”
