The one thing Malaysians are truly proud of is our insanely huge variety of local delights and delicacies ranging from foods of various ethnic backgrounds.

From Chinese food to Indian food, there are so many cuisines and dishes Malaysians can freely enjoy, especially if it is Halal, which means that our Muslim brothers and sisters can enjoy it too.

Though, sadly, not everyone agrees with experiencing and trying meals from other ethnicities, as told by a netizen. Farahin, a Muslim woman, shared with WORLD OF BUZZ about how a food delivery rider had confronted her for ordering food from an Indian restaurant.

“As a customer and Malaysian representative, I think that there is nothing wrong for all races to eat at any HALAL shop.”

Farahin had ordered some thosai and idly from an Indian restaurant in Sungai Buloh, to be delivered to her home.

Upon seeing the order, the rider had then reached out to Farahin to confirm that she is Muslim.

When the rider had confirmed that Farahin is Muslim, they said, “Did you know that this is an Indian shop? Original Indian. This is not a Mamak shop.

Nurfarahin shared with WORLD OF BUZZ,

“Are there any rules stating that Malays can’t eat at Indian shops?”

She believes that it is wrong for the rider to judge customers to that extent

“(Food delivery) riders should only do what their duties and responsibilities are and not be so judgemental”

“If they find that it is wrong for any Malay to eat at any Indian shop, then they should not be taking any orders from Indian shops,” she said.

Farahin hopes that food delivery services will take into consideration how their riders behave and interact with customers while taking orders.

Though we believe the rider made the remarks with the best of intentions, it is still wrong that they judged a customer order based on race and the food they ordered.

There shouldn’t be anything wrong with Malay customers ordering food from eateries of different ethnicities as long as the food is Halal.
