Screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation between a Malaysian with a local mobile phone store caught the attention of netizens recently due to the potential customer’s ‘special’ request.

Planning on buying an Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max at the store, the individual asked whether they could purchase the smartphone via a whopping 5-year-long instalment plan.

A Malaysian wants to buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max with a 5-year instalment plan

Shared by Facebook user Betterman Chan on the platform, the WhatsApp conversation started with the potential customer inquiring about instalment plan options at the store and how they work.

The individual then asked how much the monthly payment was for the iPhone 14 Pro Max but the mobile phone store worker replied that for the iPhone 14 series, they currently only have the iPhone 14 Plus in stock.

Seeing that the device they wanted was out of stock, the individual then asked whether the store had the iPhone 15 Pro Max in stock and how much the monthly payment was.

Asserting that the iPhone 15 Pro Max was in stock, the mobile phone store worker then asked the individual how much their monthly income was, so that the store could calculate the monthly instalment scheme.

The individual’s current monthly salary was RM2,000

The individual revealed that their salary was currently RM2,000/month and after the mobile phone store worker elaborated on how monthly instalment plans at the shop worked, the individual then asked what was the lowest monthly instalment plan the store offered.

The individual then asked how much was the monthly payment for the iPhone 15 Pro Max if they opted for a 5-year instalment, which stunned the mobile phone store worker.

The mobile phone store worker replied,

“Impossible for the instalment to be 5 years. Are you buying a car?”

Despite this sarcastic rebuke, the individual is still adamant about getting the iPhone 15 Pro Max with a 5-year instalment plan, saying that a couple of creditors in Malaysia surely offer instalment plans for either 3 or 5 years.

In the caption of the post, Betterman Chan asserted,

“Which instalment company wants to entertain this? This kid is trying to buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max with a 5-year instalment. I cannot already.”

For context, the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at RM6,499 in Malaysia and is the most expensive iPhone in Apple’s current lineup.
