How would you feel if you were a staff at a supermarket and witness someone with a carton of eggs, picking, choosing and replacing the eggs with ones from other cartons?
Would you be upset? Or do you think that it’s okay?
One netizen was unhappy with the shopper’s actions and decided to take pictures of her and share them on social media, via the Penang Kini Facebook page, however, it appears that the shopper has the support of the people.
The netizen shared, “This shopper’s attitude should not be followed. When I was in a supermarket looking for items for the kitchen, I saw a woman at the egg shelf. She had been in that area for a very long time.”
“When I looked again, it turns out… there are still shoppers who behave like this. Choosing from other cartons on the shelf, playing pick and change. What is your opinion?”
While it is obvious that the netizen disagrees with the lady’s actions, people bombarded the comments section to show their support for her! They believe that as a consumer paying for the product, she should have the right to ensure she gets the best for the same price range.
“Changing within the same grade is not a problem. From the same grade, it’s a fixed price. Just don’t change from other grades. We need to be smart consumers. We are paying for what we eat.”
“Even money that’s torn a little, the cashier won’t accept. Eggs that have gone bad can be changed. If it’s from the same grade then there’s no problem,” said another user.
“Of course have to choose. Don’t tell me the ones that are broken and have gone bad also have to be bought.”
While there is still a concern that someone else may end up accidentally buy a carton full of the woman’s unwanted (gone bad, cracked or broken) eggs, it still doesn’t feel like it’s a crime for her to want to buy only the best eggs within the same price range.
