A Form 3 student suffered a seizure after allegedly smoking a vape at a school in Kangar, Perlis, on Monday (April 21).
According to a report by Kosmo, the state Education Director, Rose Aza Che Arifin, shared that the student was found to have left class without permission with 2 friends while answering an English examination paper at about 9:30am.
He explained that the teacher who was in charge of the class then saw the student being carried into the classroom by his 2 friends, in an unconscious state while foaming at the mouth.
“The teacher on duty reported the incident to the administrator, and the school also contacted an ambulance and the student’s family,” he said.
Initial investigations found that the student was believed to have been smoking vape with friends in the school toilet before suffering a seizure. The type of vape used has not yet been identified at this time.
“The student involved has been sent to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF) here for further treatment,” he added.
The school has also sent a report to the Student Affairs Unit of the Student Development Sector in the State Education Department.
