M’sian Men Shot Dead at Cheras Mall Had Criminal Records, One Was Wanted for Murder

2 Malaysian men were brutally shot to death this morning (June 17) at Viva Home in Cheras. In an official police statement by KL’s Deputy Police Chief, Dato’ Mohd Usuf Bin Jan Mohamed, confirmed that both men died on the spot.

PDRM said they received a report about the matter at 12:48 AM. Despite the shocking murder, both Harian Metro and China Press confirmed that the mall remains in operation.

The identities of both deceased are also identified, and both of them were found to have criminal records and were part of a criminal gang.

One of the deceased, 44-year-old Xu Luguang (transliteration) was wanted for murder.

According to the viral CCTV footage, both deceased were gunned down immediately after descending from a car. The gunmen had clear targets and did not harm any passers-by. In just 30 seconds, the two men were killed, and the attackers fled in a Perodua Alza. One of the gunmen repeatedly shot one of the victims, even after he fell to the ground.

Xu was shot 6 times in the head, at the back, and in the face. Another victim, Chi, was shot 3 times in the chest, on his back, and on his body.

Both victims are from Sibu and Bintulu in Sarawak and are said to be “important figures” in a local gang. 

In the meantime, PDRM also found 18 bullet casings at the scene and estimated that the gunmen had fired 18 shots. A Proton Saga that was parked near the scene also sustained damage to its windshield. Dato’ Mohd Usuf said the matter is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
