She was swept away by the strong currents

According to Harian Metro, Monica Ting Siew Kwon, 37, had tragically drowned after being swept away by strong currents while navigating through floods.

In the video, Hii Ding Wei (the husband) appears visibly distressed as he recounts finding shelter while navigating the flooded area near Bulatan Sigah, Jalan Penampang Bypass. Sadly, his wife didn’t make it and was swept away by the powerful flood currents.

The search and rescue operation was conducted by members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) after receiving information about the incident at 1:45AM earlier today.

Her body was found at 8am this morning

Based on the reports, at around 8am this morning, Monica’s body was found about 500 meters from where she was swept away, among the trees near a resident’s house in Kampung Hungab.

Before being found, the search and resucue (SAR) team found the victim’s shoes, which provided a clue that assisted in the search for the victim.

Penampang Police Chief, Superintendent Sammy Newton, said at the place where they found the victim that a doctor declared the woman dead before they took her to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) for further investigation.
