According to The Star, the accused, See Foo Hoong was charged under Section 292 of the Penal Code where the charge was read at the Magistrate’s Court in front of Magistrate Nur Farahain Razlan. See entered a guilty plea for the charge, which carries a jail term of a maximum of three years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

The incident happened when police and officers from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) went to look for See and found him at an Old Town White Coffee branch at Bandar Baru Sri Petaling. They were investigating him for distributing prohibited content under Section 233 of the MCMC Act 1998.

They found See with an iPhone X and seized the mobile phone. An investigation was launched, and after forensic analysis on the phone, the police found the 55 porn videos inside and proceeded to charge him. Following that, the judge sentenced him to pay a RM150 fine for each porn video he possessed, which amounted to RM8,250. His lawyer, KT Tang pleaded for leniency, saying that this was See’s first offence, and he had to take care of his family.

However, MCMC prosecuting officer Nazrul Nizam Zameri said that a deterrent sentence should be handed out so that it would serve as a lesson to the public. The judge said that if See is unable to pay the fine, he will be sentenced to three months’ jail.

Remember, don’t keep any porn videos on your phone guys!
